OVERVIEW

waterRIDE™ SEWER is a geospatial interface to the sewer network model MOUSE (owned and distributed by DHI).

It facilitates the rapid development of high quality model networks as well enabling the results of MOUSE to be visualised and interrogated in time and space in a full GIS environment, including a plan outline of the sewer network.

The visualisation allows flow dynamics such as the location and duration of sewer overflows to be appreciated quickly and accurately.  Sewer network trouble spots such as inappropriately sized or overloaded sewers can be recognised at a glance.

Such interrogation and visualisation tools greatly enhance the user’s ability to analyse the results from MOUSE as well as providing insight for wastewater strategy formulation.

Since this is a GIS-based tool, any specific thematic map that represents system data and model results can be easily pre-set.

KEY FEATURES

Results Interrogation/Visualisation

Highly Visual Environment

Easy to set thematic mapping of node or manhole overflow frequencies from long time series runs

Intuitive Results Interrogation

Easily recognise potential problems in the sewer pipe network. Greater than 100% capacity means the pipe is likely running under pressure flow.

Access all Model Results at Nodes or Pipes

Check pipe velocities (or flows) at a glance. Thematic mapping readily indicates slow flowing pipes that may silt up.

Thematic Mapping

Check system layout by thematically mapping node water levels.

Manhole Surcharging

Easily view manhole surcharging.

Risk Assessment

Utilise the thematic visualisation capability of waterRIDE™ SEWER to establish a risk assessment for licensing agencies.

Link to External Datasets

Link to external data such as water quality sampling data, site photos, rainfall data, time series data from other models etc to display in conjunction with your MOUSE results

Sophisticated Calibration Tools

Advanced calibration tools allow you to rapidly adjust the right parameters in your MOUSE model to achieve a good calibration with gauging data:

- time series comparison between modelled and gauged data
- scatter plots for aggregated time series analysis
- assessment of temporal bias
- assessment of magnitude bias

Model Network Development

Download of Sewerage System Data

Import sewer networks from corporate or GIS databases

Export data to GIS systems

Model Network Definition

Using built in tools, readily define which parts of your sewer network are to be included in the model with the aid of GIS reference files (such as air photos, cadastral maps, topographic maps etc)

Data Clean-Up

Quality check your model network and visually correct anomalies in a horizontal/ long sectional view, such as:

pipes with negative grade
•adverse pipe diameters
•too shallow/ deep manhole structures
•modify pipe network structure eg add/delete pipes and nodes

Sub-catchment Delineation

Rapidly delineate your catchment by manually 'drawing' sub-catchment boundaries and assigning them to network nodes.

Theoretical Design

Process land use and population data to generate loadings for each sub-catchment.

Inbuilt functions generate maps to enhance the understanding of how your system performs. For example:

•Pipe capacity relative to peak theoretical loadings
•Pipe capacity relative to average theoretical loadings

Model Simplification

Simplify your model by removing intermediate manholes not required explicitly in the model network and aggregate hydraulically similar mains.

Readily include hydraulic parameters (head loss coefficients, additional storage etc) for manholes and pipes from outside your model network.

Model Export

Export your model network files directly to MOUSE format for use in your modelling (ie *.und, *.dwf, *.hgf).
