Computing Requirements

w        Windows® operating system (Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows ME)

w        Minimum requirement; Pentium I, 200MHz, 32Mb memory

w        Optimal computing requirements; Pentium III, 360MHz, 64Mb memory and 4Mb video card

w        Graphics Card Settings:  High Colour (16bit) or True Colour (32bit) and 1024x768 screen resolution

Import of Sewer Data

w        any agency's manhole and pipe system (exported from their database as a *.csv file) can be imported to create a waterRIDE sewer network.

w        a log file of the process indicating missing manholes, missing links, etc is created.

Network Editing

w        combined networks

w        create sewer lines (nodes and links)

w        assign node properties - cover elevation, invert elevation, diameter, input loads

w        assign link properties - upstream invert, downstream invert, diameter

w        move, add, and delete nodes

w        delete links

w        interpolate missing node cover and invert elevations

w        fill missing pipe diameters

w        show duplicate nodes and links

w        calculate cumulative loads along all network branches

Thematic Plots

w        node cover and invert elevations

w        node types (plan, junction, upstream end, downstream end, bifurcation, crossover)

w        input and cumulative loads

w        node and link edit status

w        link diameter and slope

w        PDwF in links

w        link flow capacity (un-surcharged)

Sub-Catchments

w        delineate sub-catchments

w        assign loading permits in sewer network

w        assign sub-catchment properties

w        edit sub-catchment vertices (insert, delete, move, join)

Export of Sewer Network

w        the sewer layout, with associated geometrical values (pipe diameters, pipe lengths etc.) can be exported as a GIS layer in MIF/MID format;

w        the sewer layout and associated data including sub-catchment properties can be directly exported to MOUSE (ie *.und, *.dwf, *.hgf files)

Viewing Tools

Standard GIS viewing tools ie:

w        spot polling

w        zoom

w        zoom window

w        pan

w        refresh

w        layer toggle

Sewer Network Results Presentation

Current standard outputs, comprise:

Thematic Plots

w        manhole or node water level

w        manhole or node depth

w        surcharge

w        flow through pumps, weirs and pipes

w        velocities in pipes

w        frequency of manhole surcharge (long term simulation)

w        average depth of manhole surcharge (long term simulation)

w        frequency of weir overflows (long term simulation)

w        total overflow volumes through weirs (long term simulation)

w        pipe capacities

w        flows as percentages of pipe capacities

Time & Profile Plots

w        node water level

w        culvert and ground level

w        any of the time varying datasets

Animations

Any time varying variable can be animated through the storm events of a model run.  All animations include the time varying, total volume of water contained in the network.  Current standard animations comprise:

w        node water level

w        node depth

w        manhole surcharge

w        flow through pumps, weirs and pipes

w        velocities in pipes

w        flows as percentages of pipe capacities

Long Time Series Results

the interface has been set up to facilitate analysis of long time series model results.

Export of Sewer Network and Results

w        the sewer layout, with associated geometrical values (pipe diameters, pipe lengths etc.) can be exported as a GIS layer in MIF/MID format;

w        all or selected manhole, weir or pipe parameters can be summarised for each storm of the model results and exported as .csv tables for further statistical analysis in spread sheet packages.

Viewing Tools

Standard GIS viewing tools ie:

w        spot polling

w        zoom

w        zoom window

w        pan

w        refresh

w        layer toggle
